Speaking of Residues

May 9 - June 20, 2025

Speaking of Residues explores the idea of trace and its impact on the personal and collective consciousness. The artists in this exhibition constantly interplay with ideas of memory, displacement, and silence. Debashruti Aich introspects societal norms, revealing unspoken feelings and conventional boundaries. She incorporates tactile materials such as textiles and embroidery to craft deeply personal and resonant narratives. Deepanwita Das' work explores the interconnectedness of nature and humans. She is particularly fascinated by wildflowers and how they are a symbol of resilience despite the fragility of their life.

Athai Joham surfaces the methods of traditional farming practices in her art as a way of speaking about the cycle of life in sync with nature. Harun Al Rashid delves deep into his family history and memory and excavates discarded books, speaking about the transformative power of loss and longing. Thasni M.A captures cultural residues embedded in the body and how displacement to a new environment creates a site of isolation. Through these diverse mediums and perspectives, the artists in this exhibition invite the viewers to a moment of introspection into the materialities of trace, silence, and longing that evoke different meanings at every walk of life.
