Sanket Viramgami

Sanket Viramgami

Though working on large scale canvases in acrylic colours, Sanket Viramgami’s major sources of inspiration are Indian miniature paintings and ‘kantha’ (embroidered quilts). He weaves the stories through a skilful juxtaposition of mythological figures and events from his immediate surroundings. The minuscule figures, intertwined with different patterns and textures, demand a closer inspection only to be perceived as a part of the rhythm of life that the artist creates in his works.

Sanket, a Baroda-based artist, completed both his graduation and post-graduation programmes from the M. S. University, Baroda in 2011 and 2013 respectively. His works have been displayed in numerous exhibitions in some of the esteemed venues in India and abroad. In 2020, he was a featured artist in the India Art Fair. He is a recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award (2016-18).
