While multifarious stories of today’s world appear and reappear in Mainaz Bano’s oeuvre, representing current issues from a vantage point, the motifs and patterns she uses to give them life are firmly rooted in her cultural heritage of the city of Lucknow. The patterns, inspired by the highly decorated borders of the Mughal miniatures, lie across the canvas and succeed to create a new spatial arrangement in her works.
